The advent of molecular nanocarbon biology

Molecular nanocarbons are precisely defined carbon-rich molecules with unique photophysical, electronic, and topological properties. Recent synthetic advances have expanded their structural diversity and enabled growing applications in biology. This Perspective highlights their potential in imaging, delivery, therapeutics, and biocatalysis, and introduces “molecular nanocarbon biology” as an emerging field bridging synthetic chemistry and biological science.
