Chem. Rev. 2017, ASAP. DOI: 10.1021/acs.chemrev.7b00021

Azine (nitrogen-containing 6-membered aromatic ring such as pyridine) is ubiquitously found in a range of biologically active molecules and functional materials. Studies on the direct functionalization of azine have been actively conducted. In this review, direct functionalization of azines is summarized.
